Nasdaq – Performance – 2024 – Winners and Losers

  • Domestic markets closed weaker as some small and mid-caps were quite hammered. Nasdaq gained slightly

  • 2025 is going to be quite an interesting year as there could be multiple triggers that could reshape the world for both the better and the worse (Stay Tuned for our 2025 Outlook that we shall release on the 2nd of January i.e. Thursday evening to your inboxes that will have sectors that we are positive on, themes to avoid, interesting stats and more)

  • From an investing perspective we believe levels of 23,000 – 24,500k offer a balanced risk reward bet, > 24,500 maybe a bit more of risk than reward and levels below 23k have better rewards in store. This is for the short term i.e. 3-6 months. The first 3 months of the Trump regime will provide indicators as to how the rest of his presidency would be and my own belief is that his words (Tweets) are eccentric, however his actions are not and hence I am positive on few things especially easier global geopolitical worries

  • On the Nasdaq we would want to take some gains off the table at these levels as a lot of positives seem to have been priced in

  • Gold though might have a slower run, but the direction should be positive and there is a strong likelihood of the commodity touching 1 lakh levels over the next 12-15 months ( Which is what we have been maintaining since a while)

My views on why despite attempting a clean up of the tax structure it has become messier and in the upcoming budget a much more radical approach is needed. For investors please do double check with your tax/financial consultant for any tax action you take.
